Artist & Illustrators Magazine
Nov 2020 &
Jan 2021 editions
I'm excited to have been invited to write a couple of features for Artists & Illustrators Magazine recently.
In the November issue I demoed how to turn fresh blooms from your garden into a striking still life composition using high contrasts and chromatic black paint mixes.
The January issue has 2 painting exercises intended to keep people busy and creative during lockdown. The first is about painting reflected colour in a portrait and the other is about playing with colour saturation in a still life set-up.
Digital copies of the magazines can be viewed and purchased - here.

RESPONSE: COLOUR, RHYTHM, REPEAT
I currently have 26 works on display at Highgate School in their gallery space within the school's Art Department.
On show are recent paintings featuring still life subjects, portraits and summer landscapes, some of which were made during the recent lockdown.
The works were selected to reflect my personal approach to different subjects and to draw parallels between them. From a painterly point of view the skin of a plum is no different to human flesh – it’s fragility, colour subtleties and textures all come alive through the process of painting oil on canvas.
