I'm very excited about teaching a two-day portrait painting workshop inspired by the exhibition Jenny Saville: The Anatomy of Painting at the National Portrait Gallery, London in July.​

​

Saville rose to prominence in the early 1990s, following her acclaimed degree show at the Glasgow School of Art. In the years since she has played a leading role in the reinvigoration of figurative painting – a genre that she continues to test the limits of to this day. 

I was commissioned to paint a series of portraits for the re-opening of the Montcalm Hotel in Mayfair.

These portraits were of historical figures who were tastemakers and trend-setters such as floral designer Constance Spry, Elizabeth Montagu, co-founder of the legendary Blue Stockings Society, the Marquis of Montcalm, George Bridgetower, a British musician and Australian opera singer Dame Nellie Melba.​

Back in 2020 I was generously granted a travel award to paint on the Isle of Eigg. Due to the pandemic and various other factors I was delayed in getting there - however, Eigg did not disappoint! This solo trip really was an experience I will never forget. 

​

The epic landscape and crofting community were inspiration enough -  its history ever present in its monuments and churchyards, the landscape unspoiled by modern life, few cars and the local shop an hours walk to get to.

​

I soaked it all up and took away lots of inspiration and fragments of ideas to percolate back in the studio. So watch this space.

The Lido Open 2024 received over 1,200 submissions from across the UK and Ireland. The exhibition of 76 selected artists will run from Wednesday, 18 September to Saturday, 19 October 2024.

Gallery owner and curator Kristen Healy established The Lido Stores opposite the iconic Lido obelisk in Margate in what once was a post office/convenience store. The gallery showcases some of the best emerging and mid-career artists from the United Kingdom and Ireland.

I am showing some pastel landscapes in this mixed exhibition featuring several contemporary artists united by the use of paper forming the basis of their works.

This focused show presents different perspectives and subject matter - animals, still life, depictions of landscapes and curious figures, made up of hundreds of meticulously hand cut paper forms - much more than meets the eye, combining traditional and experimental approaches such as drawing and collage.

In this two person exhibition at The Table in Hay-on-Wye, Kim and her father Glen will be showing new work featuring garden landscapes and still life subjects.  
The exhibition will run from 10th - 31st of July 2021.
